Remote learning Music!

During remote learning, Years 1 & 2 students learned Indigenous Australian, and Eastern Torres Straight Islands, music and dances. They also learned how to perform singing and dancing using a poi. Poi is a form of dance, where weights on the ends of tethers (or ropes) are swung through rhythmical patterns. The word “poi” comes from the Maori people of Aotearoa (also known as New Zealand). Poi dance is part of Maori cultural tradition.

Students created their own pois to dance with. Have a look at their marvellous creations below:
